👋🏼 Hi, I’m Hoda!

I’m a Bay Area-based product designer with 4+ years of experience. Before design, I was studying neuroscience to become a healthcare professional, but quickly pivoted when I realized I could combine my love for studying the human brain & psychology with design and creativity. This led me to the world of user experience design! 🧠🎨

What truly drew me to the beauty of design is that there is always so much to learn and grow from in every industry. I had no idea how door readers or security systems worked before I entered the access control world. That’s what brings me on the lookout for new opportunities in different industries, and I’m excited to see what’s out there! 🚀

Outside of designing, I enjoy playing video games (currently playing Hollow Knight: Silksong), being my own barista at home, scrapbooking, and learning languages. I just started learning Japanese again after my recent trip to Japan! I’m already planning my next trip there. 🍡

  • I love finding different avenues to express myself creatively. Here’s what I’ve been up to:

➱ Practicing my latte art skills ☕️

    ➱ Yoga & Pilates 🧘🏻‍♀️

➱ Experimenting with digital art ✍🏻

    ➱ Video & photo editing 📸

    ➱ Learning Japanese 🍡

  • One thing I am passionate about is data-driven design. I love to gather as much information as possible in the discovery phase to best understand my user and the product itself.

Aside from a focus on the discovery phase, my design process evolves and grows with every project I take on. It also molds into what the project and business needs for that particular endeavor, but here is a general outline of the process I like to take on:

    The [double] diamond approach:

    Discover → Define → Develop → Deliver

This usually begins and ends with the diverging and converging of ideas [both to happen twice]. I typically like to use workshop tools and bring cross-disciplinary teams together to ideate solutions. I then huddle with the design team and start designing!
